Having been with all of the major breakdown providers at one time or another I tend to be suspicious of the larger compnies, thinking that the bigger they are the less they care about customers/members. I was unfortunate enought to have all of my tyres slashed (Along with the rest of the street!) and the AA couldn't help me enough. Not only did they lift my car to the garage of my choice, they also managed to negotiate 25% discount for me on a full new set of Firestone tyres, and helped me to claim the cost back from my insurer (As a NON fault claim so I even kept my NCD!). I can't recommend them highly enough!

The AA has come to my rescue far too often than I care to remember. Brilliant rescue service, can be quite expensive compared to other providers but they do keep you updated via text and phone and will contact relatives etc if you need to get a message to them.
